The government is continuing its unremitting efforts to fight online radicalisation, extremism and terrorism and effectively respond to new developments. In recent years, many steps have been taken in the further development of the Enhanced Approach Online to extremist and terrorist content. In light of the increasing and evolving online threat, the coalition agreement set out initiatives to help address online radicalisation, extremism and terrorism, including a ban on addictive, polarising and anti-democratic algorithms. The European Commission also recently presented the new EU Counterterrorism Agenda, which focuses specifically on the online dimension and on additional measures to combat online radicalisation.
