Dick Schoof becomes Director General of the General Intelligence and Security Service

Mr drs. H.W.M. (Dick) Schoof is to become Director General of the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The Council of Ministers has approved the proposal of Minister Ollongren of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment will take effect on November 17, 2018.

Drs. H.W.M. (Dick) Schoof has been National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security at the Ministry of Justice and Security since 2013. Before that, he filled the position of, among other things, Director-General Police at the same Ministry, Director-General at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, senior director of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) and deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice. He started his career at the Association of Dutch Municipalities in 1984.

Dick Schoof studied Planning at Nijmegen University. The appointment of Dick Schoof was effected through the procedure for the top management group of the Senior Civil Service.
